Turn your Shower Time into Healing Time!

Have you ever experienced negative emotions such as guilt, shame, fear, or anger? Of course, we all have!!! There are many techniques out there these days on how to manage your emotions and relax your mind. Some techniques such as therapy or yoga may require some time to really experience the benefits. There is an ancient technique however that can help you rid yourself of negative emotions almost instantly. I call this effective energy cleansing technique, the sacred shower. You can use it anytime and as often as you like.

Hop in the shower and follow these simple steps!

Step 1: Change your state with deep breathes

Fill your stomach with as much air as possible, then fill your chest with air until there is no room left. Hold you breathe for three seconds and slowly let the air out of your mouth. Repeat this five times.

Step 2: Visualize

Your visualization will vary with your individual preference and personality. It is important to use all of your senses. Here’s one that worked for me:

Imagine that you are bathing under a beautiful waterfall in the middle of an exotic forest. The water is completely refreshing, pure and warm. There is a smell of vanilla and lavender in the air. The sun is shinning, birds are chirping and the wind is just right.
The point is for you to immerse yourself in the most pleasurable and relaxing experience you can imagine. You have to imagine that you are ACTUALLY experiencing the scene (hence why you are in the shower) not watching yourself experiencing it. Once you are relaxed and fully in the moment, you are ready for the next step.

Step 3: Wash Away the Negative Energy

Use what ever you use to wash; a bar of soap, washcloth, shower gel etc. Begin to scrub your skin. As you scrub, imagine washing away filthy black goo or any image that best portrays the negative energy. Imagine that goo sliding off your body and into the tub drain as you say to yourself “I am washing away all of the __________”. You can say fear, shame, guilt, humiliation or whatever word best describes the negative energy. Repeat this as many times as you like. You should be saying this while simultaneously scrubbing away the negativity. The more you FEEL and BELIEVE your visualization, the more this technique will work for you.

Hip Hop, Fashion, and Ancient Wisdom

Tyga's clothing line, "The Last Kings" is fashion with a higher intent.  His line is "inspired by a love of Ancient Egyptian culture and the belief that we can all be kings, spreading knowledge and building a positive future." The clothes reflect an afro-futuristic vibe, merging an African past with an urban, Hip Hop future.

The Last Kings is a collection of T-shirts, hoodies, and hats that feature ancient symbols such as the falcon, pharaoh bust, and pyramid.

Ancient metaphors also appear in Tyga's tattoos. His extraordinary abdominal tattoo expresses how Kemetic mysticism laid the foundation for Christianity. His back motif features a set of pharaohs appearing as his regal spirit guides. Our generation is definitely not afraid to connect to our ancestors.

Look out for a Queens line sometime in the near future!

A$AP Rocky Brings Music and Awareness to the Dominican Republic

A$AP Rocky became a hip-hop sociologist in his hot video, “Wild for the Night”. His new album Long.Live.A$ap is at the top of the charts and is sure to please hip-hop heads.

Reminiscent of the movie “City of God”, A$ap’s cinematic video exposed the dark reality of being poor and Black in Latin America. These wonderfully captured scenes unearth the social and economic issues in the DR.

In 2005, I visited the Dominican Republic with my mother for vacation. What I saw was exactly what this video reveals. During my trip, many Dominicans were listening to rappers such as 50 cent and identified strongly to hip-hop culture.

Unfortunately “the darker you are the poorer you are” is the case in many Latin American cities today. A$ap ingeniously used his music for cultural exchange and social awareness.

Have you ever been to Latin America? What were your experiences?
